Mount Vernon was founded by Kenneth J. Olson. Mr. Olson holds a B.A. and an M.B.A. from Boston University and is a licensed real estate broker.

Mr. Olson began his career as a journalist and publisher, co-founding the award-winning Boston Network Media, Inc. while a sophomore in college, and working with the non-profit Spare Change newspaper. Utilizing his communication and management skills, he launched a decade-long career in philanthropy, serving in top fundraising and management positions for organizations such as Goodwill, WBUR, America’s pre-imminent public radio station, a charitable arm of BlueCross BlueShield of Massachusetts, and an inner-city Catholic high school in Massachusetts. 

He serves on the Board of Directors of Mount Alvernia Academy and BraveHouse, a non-profit organization providing short-term and vacation housing to children with cancer.  Formerly he has served as a longtime director on the Boston University Alumni Association Executive Board and President of the Coyote Theater Group.
